Why are we called Platypus? Answer #1 A platypus is a unique, complex animal. Though it lays eggs, it is a mammal. It lives on land and in the water. We thought this animal would be a great symbol for what we do - improving your health through land- and water-based physical activity. Like the platypus, our approach to medical exercise therapy and athletic coaching is unique and complex. We create personalized, intricate exercise regimens that mirror natural movement so you achieve the best possible results in rehabilitation, injury prevention and training. Answer # 2 Years ago, Matthias, our exercise specialist, was taking a leisurely run in Halifax around Public Gardens. As he passed a group of young men, he heard one say, "He looks like a platypus!" Answer # 3 Matthias' favourite presentation while studying biology was about the platypus and its relatives. He recalled the presentation when it came time to choose a name for the company. The platypus symbolizes the biological approach Matthias takes in creating Medical Exercise Therapy programs for his clients. |
